The Arena Grand was proud to host the Columbus premiere of "The Dead Matter" on Friday July 23, 2010. This We were the ONLY theatre in town to show this movie in addition to an exciting Q&A with Producers Robert Kurtzman (creator/producer of "From Dusk Till Dawn," a Hollywood FX legend), and Gary Jones ("Xena," "Hercules," "Boogeyman 3), and director/composer Edward Douglas of the Gothic Halloween music band Midnight Syndicate.

The public response to this event was incredible and we look forward to premiering future work from this amazing film making team.

2010 Winner "Best Documentary" at the GI Film Festival

On July 24, 2010 we were thrilled to be the only theater in the city to show the amazing documentary CHOSIN. The screening was free and open to the public and has the people of Columbus talking. Producer/Director Brian Iglesias and Producer Anton Sattler conducted a Q&A after the screening to make this experience even more monumental and unique.

Chosin is the first-ever documentary on the Chosin Reservoir Campaign. Presented in immersive high definition video (HD), the stories of our veterans are supplemented with rare archival footage gathered from hundreds of hours of research. The survivors take us on an emotional and heart-pounding journey through one of the most savage battles in American history. These accounts, combined with footage never before seen by most Americans, create a visceral, emotionally charged experience unlike that provided by any other contemporary war documentary.

As a fellow veteran, director Brian Iglesias forged a unique connection with the men he interviewed. Time and again, these men shared stories they have never told to anyone...not their wives, children, or their closest friends. Chosin is not the first documentary to give a voice to America's veterans, but the depth of its emotional access is unlike anything previously brought to the screen.

The first annual Arnold Sports Film Festival is March 4 - March 6 and we are excited to be hosting this monumental event! If you are attending the Arnold Festival at the Convention Center, your arm band will gain you access to the film festival for no additional charge. Admission is only granted for that day's events.     The film festival just got even better!! Saturday night, March 5th at 9:00 p.m., as part of the Arnold Sports Film Festival, we will be premiering a sneak peek of the yet-to-be-released film "Win Win" starring Paul Giamatti, Melanie Lynskey, Amy Ryan, Jeffrey Tambor, and Bobby Cannavale. This Sundance Film Festival hit tells the story of a disheartened attorney who moonlights as a high school wrestling coach. During his coaching stint, he stumbles across a star athlete through some questionable business dealings while trying to support his family. Just as it looks like he will get a double payday, the boy's mother shows up fresh from rehab and flat broke, threatening to derail everything.
